Bathing Suit Season
As many of you can see, whenever you go out shopping, bathing suit season is upon us.
Being that we will be joining our neighborhood pool this summer, and a trip to Florida that is in our near future, I decided it might be time to pick up a couple cute outfits for Ellery!
I love how you can see what's left of her little inner thigh rolls in this picture!
I snapped this quick shot this morning when Ellery was waking up Daddy. We had a busy morning getting ready for church and Daddy wasn't up yet. Nothing like a little poking at your eyes to wake you up! :)

Want Milk?!
I discovered a long known Mother's Trick.
How do you get your toddler to drink milk?
ADD CHOCOLATE!!
That did the trick. Yep, she'll be drinking milk for the rest of her life now.

The 1 Year Stats
Ellery had her 1 year check up yesterday.
She is:
18 lbs. 13 oz., 10-25%
28 1/2" long, 25-50%
Her head is 17 7/8" & that's the biggest part of her at 50-75%!
She is doing great. Just about ready to walk full time, any day now. I'm thinking she would be walking now if she wasn't carried so much. But with her cute little face I can't keep my hands off of her!
She loves to talk and pull things out; like things from my purse or blocks out of her play bin or dirty laundry out of the hamper.
She loves to crawl and tumble on the sofa.
I can't serve her a meal with out the majority of the food being something she can pick up. At the point she pretty much eats what ever we are eating, unless I haven't figured dinner out at 6:00 and then it's lunch meat, cheese & some fruit.
Ellery will go through spurts when she'll wake up at 4AM and just cry. Most of the time I'll let her cry it out, but if it's been a really long time or I don't want to hear it any longer I'll go in and sooth her. She'll just rest her little head on my shoulder and wrap her arms around my neck as I stand next to her crib and sway. I love that moment. Listening to her catch her breath from crying and knowing that she just wanted me.
I have to say that one of the most amazing parts to being a mom is knowing that someone on this plant just needs/wants you. It doesn't matter what your hair looks like or what breath smells like or how your dressed. All that matters is that your warm loving body is available for a hug, kiss and some snuggles. Oh, my heart....
Poor little miss, I think she's been traumatized by all the hospital exams and testing she's had lately because when I took her clothes off and carried her to the nurses station for her weight & height check she just WAILED. I could see the terror in her eyes and NO ONE WAS TOUCHING HER!! Broke my heart! But then the doctor told me that between the ages of 12-18 months babies just don't like doctors and someone unfamiliar poking at them.
Ellery has tried milk. She does not like it. Unfortunately I have to be persistent with it and hope that one day soon she'll learn to enjoy it.
I just started reading "On Becoming Toddlerwise" and it looks like I have some work ahead of me. She doesn't seem to be showing full signs of toddlerhood quite yet but I think it's good to be prepared. I'm looking forward to registering for a Growing Kids Gods Way class. Hopefully any questions I might have will be answered in that class.

Party Time!!
Ellery's first birthday party was this afternoon.
I was so excited. The day was insanely busy, ya know cleaning and straightening up from the construction this past week. Cary and I were up until midnight last night installing the plumbing for the 1/2 bath we've added to the entry of the house. So we were both working on little sleep but thankfully both sets of parents were here helping out and because of them everything on the "to do" list was completed!
My camera died 1/2 way through the cake! So I hope to upload some pictures from friends here soon.
Here was a craft I worked on this past week. I found the idea in my Southern Living magazine and fell in love. There was a bit of tweaking and "Leah" twists, but I think it turned out pretty cute!
While I was setting up the table, Ellery was watching the photo slide show I made!

We served chicken tenders, veggie tray, hummus & chips & shrimp cocktail.
Here are the kids goodie bags. I made heart shaped sugar cookies with a pink glaze, orange M & M's and blow pops.
Ellery would NOT wear the cute hat I bought her. She hated it. Thankfully my brother got her to tolerate it on her tray.
Happy Birthday dear Ellery!!! Happy Birthday to you!!
Okay, this is the point that my camera died. So I ran and plugged in the charger, waited about 15 minutes and got it back into the party.
The girls found a quiet spot in the sun room to read some books and sing their ABC's.
SO CUTE!!
The original plan was to not open presents during the party. However, near 5:00 the only folks still hanging out where parents and children. So I couldn't resist having some of the children help Ellery open her gifts! They LOVED it. The kids played with her toys more than she did.
Mason was too cute. After we opened the cute Ladybug towel and bib he we showing me how to unroll the towel and how Ellery is supposed to wear it. I asked him if he had the same bib, he got the funniest look on his face like, "umm...lady I don't know what your talking about..." His dad told him he had the same style but his was blue. :)
Of course Mr. Ayers had to have a tea party with the kids! That's what you do with new toys.
YEAH FOR BIRTHDAY PARTIES!!!
Ellery had so much fun. She devoured her cupcake and the sugar high was obvious. But she just talked and played and I could tell she was in her element. This kid is not shy, she can play cute shy sometimes but when it comes down to it she likes to party!
